Just 50 minutes SW of Sydney, new half-day Porsche tours of the historic Macarthur region are now on offer, allowing budget-challenged, sports car lovers to realise their driving dreams – if only for a few hours.Run by Macarthur locals, Paul Rodgers and Yasmin Taplin, ‘Sports Car on Hire’ was launched last year with full day tours but the new half-day option for $450 is set to see even more aspirational drivers get behind the wheel of one of the sleek and powerful Porsche Boxster S convertibles. The novel tours trace scenic routes through the hills and dales of the Macarthur region, passing wineries, heritage towns and some of Australia’s oldest farms and colonial houses. Included in each tour is a morning or afternoon tea stop, fuel, insurance and public liability cover. While guests drive themselves, the tour fleet will be led and guided by an experienced Porsche driver. The tours are ideal for anyone keen to experience first-hand the glamour of one of the world’s most luxurious cars without the expense of owning one. Full-day and weekend tours are also available. ‘Sports car on Hire’ also caters for clubs, conference delegates, incentive groups and also weddings. The half-day tours are available seven days a week and cost $450 per car (two people per car at $225 each). Drivers must be 25 or older and hold an unrestricted driver’s licence. For drivers wishing to travel solo, the cost is $450.
