Ponant has forged a new alliance with Smithsonian Journeys, the travel program of the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum, education and research complex, for select voyages beginning in 2022.Smithsonian Journeys offers a diverse range of trip styles, including Land, Train, Family, Tailor-Made and Active Journeys, Private Jet, Cultural Stays, Special Interest, and both River and Ocean Cruising.
The new themed sailings with Ponant will feature notable experts and experiences that embrace local cultures and dive deeper into a destination’s history, cuisine, language, environment and wildlife.19 departures exploring Antarctica, Japan, Iceland, the Mediterranean, British Isles, Great Lakes, Norwegian fjords and more, will debut next year, providing opportunities to engage with a variety of experts, ranging from archaeologists and scientists to anthropologists and historians.Among the Ponant expeditions offered by Smithsonian Journeys are the November and December 2021 Solar Eclipse sailings to Antarctica.
