Rising global demand for its program of Norwegian coastal cruising has prompted Hurtigruten to expand its range of Signature voyages with the addition of MS Midnatsol to its premium fleet. From summer 2026, the upgraded vessel will join sister ships MS Trollfjord and MS Finnmarken in the Signature lineup.“Demand for our Signature voyages has seen remarkable growth across key APAC markets,” Hurtigruten APAC Managing Director Damian Perry said.“Bookings have significantly increased year-on-year, and our trade partnerships are contributing to strong double-digit growth. It’s clear that our distinctive offering is appealing to travellers across the region.“This momentum puts us in an excellent position to grow our footprint and deepen engagement across Asia-Pacific, bringing even more of the authentic Norwegian experience to our guests.”
MS Midnatsol will sail the Svalbard Line over the summer months, connecting Bergen and Longyearbyen. During the winter season, it will alternate with the newly-renamed MS Finnmarken (formerly MS Otto Sverdrup) on the North Cape Line, departing weekly from Hamburg.Hurtigruten’s strategic fleet enhancement reflects strong market momentum, according to CEO Hedda Felin. “As of early May 2025, global bookings for upcoming Signature voyages were up more than 40% year-on-year,” she said. “This strong performance gives us a solid foundation to accelerate further growth.”She attributed this strong demand to the Signature voyages mix of the best of Norwegian nature, culture, and hospitality. “The fact that demand is increasing so significantly confirms that we have struck a chord with the market,” she added. In addition to upgrading the Signature fleet, Hurtigruten will also bring MS Vesterålen back into full-time service with the Original Coastal Express fleet on the Bergen–Kirkenes route.
